We live in Houston Tx. I bought a brand new house in 2003. We used to hear slight noises of someone walking in our attic but we ignored it in the beginning.

Now after 2 years in 2005 my son Zain was born. Six months after his birth the toys were turning on by themselves and the pictures were falling from the walls.

4 months ago my second son was born and the same thing but worst things are happening.
Now the bed shakes in the night. My kids get scared as well. I had a person exorcist me as he said I was possessed by this female ghost. Anyway, things are still the same. Now it even grabs our (me and wife) hands and sometimes freezes our voices to be able to speak (just started).

Bed is still shaking all night and sometimes kids are scared as well.
I have a lot more to tell you. All I need is your help to figure out what that is.

From what you have described happening in your house you do have at least one, probably two earthbound ghosts, one of them is likely a child ghost.

I have no way of knowing from your letter about the accuracy of your possession, but it seems if this was so the exorcism did not help. If money was exchanged for this exorcism I would ask them to try again or give a refund.

Here are a couple of suggestions that you should do, especially because of the children.

ONE –It never hurts to have the house blessed by an ordained priest or minister. DO NOT get holy water and sprinkle it about yourself. This will not help.

Second-Get a smudge stick. Smudge sticks are what Native Americans used to cleanse their living areas. You should be able to find them at health food stores, some book stores, and any good metaphysical shop. Follow the instructions that come with the smudge stick, or ask where you buy it how to use it.

I hope you can help with this very offbeat question: Do you believe or feel that's its possible for a person to "pick up" a disease from a close loved one (mother, to be exact) who has died from a very painful death of cancer? Symptoms, subtleties, etc.? I guess it might almost be a question of possession of sorts... really dont know how to explain this... I too am a psychic, and need some guidance from someone who is more "medium" experienced. I googled my questions online and found almost nothing, until popping onto your site. I do hope you can shed some light, or at least give me some direction... if you have ever heard of a person "taking on" another dying persons physical symptoms, or other things, as a sort of "clearing" that person that's dying, please do let me know. Ive been suffering horribly and my gut is screaming at me, but I dont wish to believe what Im hearing... Im sure you know what i mean..

First of all I am not a “medium”. Mediums can see and communicate with ghosts that have crossed into the light.

I am a paranormal investigator. I see and talk to ghosts that have not crossed over,--but I can certainly answer your offbeat question.

No—you can not pick up a disease from a ghost, a ghost can not give you a disease.

However if an earthbound ghost gets right in a living person’s space, constantly being with them twenty four seven, the live person can begin to exhibit the same symptoms of the disease that the ghost died from.

This is not a possession. That is something completely different. Possession are very few and far between, one in thousands.

Another problem that could occur with earthbound ghosts in houses, adults could have unexplained headaches, lower intestinal problems, or sinus problems. Children could have a lot of ear, nose, throat, or upper respiratory problems.

A live person who takes on the physical symptoms of a sick person (not just a dying person) is called an empath. A lot of healers have this ability , which can give relief to a sick or dying person.

Remember you have free will, this is a decision a person has to make, to accept to do this kind of work.

My son Nathan died on his 26th birthday from what the coroner said was a freak type blockage. Needless to say I have been devastated. Have you heard of any significance of one dying on his or her birthday. I have received signs from Nathan. That is what keeps me going. Also, very strange, about two weeks before he died. I was driving down the road and a men dressed just like Jesus would have, was walking down the street by himself, was this real do you think?

Gosh two very important dates in your sons short life. Birth and death and they happen on the same day! Having children myself I am so sad for your loss. You did not mention the dates so I could not check for you.

I am sure you could get a clear answer from a numerologist on the importance of this. I just do not feel that I have the knowledge on this subject.

Did you see Jesus walking down the street? I do not know. I think it would have been very unusual to see, but as we know he has walked among us before.

My question:

Is it true that people who have committed suicide do
not get to go to the afterlife? So many times, in
certain religious environments, I have been told that
if a person is to end their own life they will not be
allowed in to the afterlife and will spend eternity as
a lost soul.

My father committed suicide at the age of 42 after
battling, for several years, a debilitating lung
disorder. (I was 15 at the time and am 35 now.) Upon
learning from the doctors that they would not be able
to "fix" him and that he would die an excrutiating
death he decided to end his own life.

I just want to know if it is possible that he could be
in the after life. He was a good person and he didn't
want himself or his family to have to go through the
pain of a prolonged horrible death.

This has been an issue that has plagued me for the
majority of my adult life. I have dreams of him
often, that he is near but does not want to see me or
talk to me and it is very upsetting and leads me to
believe that he may not be at peace. I told him at
one time to stop coming into my dreams if he would not
talk to me...I stopped having them for several years
but recently I am having them again.

I appreciate any insight you can provide.

I have good news for you. You did and are again having dreams of your father. He has passed over, he has gone to your belief of the afterlife..

If he had not crossed over you would not be able to have dreams of him. Earthbound ghosts can not come into dreams.

He may feel that you are unhappy with him for committing suicide That is why he would not converse with you. The next time you have a dream of him tell him how you feel about his death. You will be able to resolve this issue with patience and time.

Tena- Grandmother's House

My name is Tena and I am contacting you regarding an issue I am having with what I believe to be a ghost or spirit.

In my teen years I had an incident in my home (grandma's house was adopted) in the basement hearing a clicking noise and once I found it the pillow moved up on its own and I ran upstairs and literally felt as if something went thru me.

Since then it seems as if what ever that was or is, it has followed me. I get that same feeling and at times have heard that clicking noise (but never look for it now too scared) and the feeling of this presence. (not a good one)

I am not crazy nor really believe in this kind of stuff but know that it is real in my own life. What ever it is it's not good and it frightens me enough to where I am petrified when I am alone. If you could advise me on what to do I would be so appreciative.

In addition I am now 36 years old and have moved a great deal in my life and I do believe it has followed me.

What you experienced in your grandmother’s house could have easily happened. However no one ran thru you. When an earthbound ghost is very, very close to you, right in your space, that is what it can feel like.

You are not crazy. A ghost can easily follow you from house to house. In all honesty who is going to stop them? I can for certain say that this ghost has followed you, because the clicking noise the ghost makes is very distinct. Not many do that so it has to be the same one.

I'm sure this doesn't seem weird to you but I am just wondering. My dad died February 18th, 1997. Now I was very close to him and I even felt when he passed. I had a hard time dealing with his passing and everyone else's since. Today me and my husband took my mother out to eat. I started thinking about my dad and then I smelled his smell. I could have sworn he was right there with us. As soon as the smell passed the song 'Callin All Angels' came on the radio in the resturant.The beginning line of that song is ' I need a sign to let me know your'e here' in which I was then covered in cold chills and almost cried. So could it have been possible that he dropped in on us for a brief moment?

Kristy- Two year old daughter

My 2yr old daughter just recently has been talking about the man in my house or she will say the man is comming. I really wish I knew what she was talking about but when I ask her questions about this man she tells me everything in detail. I asked her what the man looks like and she tells me . I am thinking it is someone I know but it is no one I could think of. Rylie ( my daughter ) says she isnt allowed to tell daddy about the man only mom and her nana, but out of no where she will say the man is here mommy and come hug me tightly. I try at that point to get her to do other things but she just repeats the man is here , the man is here. Rylie will talk in long talks to no one early in the morning. She will tell who she is talking to about her babies and about her brother. Please if you could help me help her I would love that.

Rylie is doing what all children can do, talk to ghosts and interact with them, usually this will stop around five or six years of age.

I would normally say do not worry about it, but what has me a little concerned, is that she said that she is not allowed to “tell daddy”! A ghost that has crossed over would not say that, so why is this earthbound ghost being so sneaky?

Kristy is there some one from your past that you were close to and he died, so he does not want your husband to know that he is around?

Unfortunately I can not tell you for sure from a letter, but because your children are young I would make these two suggestions.

Jo- Dogs and Photos

My dog Sadie passed over a while back. This is one of the pictures of Sadie with a white orb with her. There is one more...have not found yet.What to you think? The white orb showed up about a month before Sadie passed over. ;-) And no other orbs in any other pics before. This is a first for me to see in any pics I have taken... ever! LOL I have 4 dogs and some cats.. no orbs around them when I took the pictures that time in that one room. Sadie- black, is laying under a futon that is folded out into a bed...she is laying next to a pink blanket. You can see her left eye, the other one is covered by the orb. Now that I look closer at the pic, enlarging it... where I thought Sadie's left eye is...I now see her eyes are closed.. what I thought was Sadie's open left eye. now looks like a tiny orb. The orbs in my enlarged version of the pic, have a blue outline with some violet. What to you make of this?

An orb is as ghost that has crossed over, but comes to us for a visit. They are not harmful; it makes no difference what colors that they are.

All that this picture means is the day that you took it some one was visiting, and that you were lucky enough to get it on film.

Sadie and the other dog in the picture look nice and peaceful, nothing to worry about.

I have an odd question. I have two daughters and recently lost a third daughter while late in my second trimester. While pregnant on each daughter (and before I knew the sex) I dreamed of holding a baby boy in my arms and knowing his name. On three occasions I have had this dream, with three different names and I wake up 'knowing' that this is the name of the baby in a very real, very powerful way. All of the names were ones that I was not considering for the baby; one of them I even had to look up because I had never heard it before. I wonder why I may have had a dream like this on each pregnancy, and why a baby boy was in each one when I eventually gave birth to three daughters. I also would like to know if my daughter who died in utero at 24 weeks was conscious of our love and if she knows of her sisters.

First of all I am sorry about the baby, but yes she felt your love and now that she is in heaven she is around all of you.

I am not a dream expert, but I looked up some information and you could actually be remembering children from a past life or lives. If so you have had at least three boys and in this life you have gotten girls. Things have a way of evening out!

You might be able to find out even more information from a good dream interpretation book.

The funeral service is not a problem with earthbound ghost, they are there during calling hours and of course at the cemetery. They usually pass over after the final service.

I would have no way of knowing who you are seeing out of the corner of your eye. If you or someone has had a dream of them then they have crossed over and are where they should be.

If you do not remember your dreams get a herb called mugwort. Make a little sachet out of it and place it between your pillow and pillow case. In about three weeks sometimes sooner, you will begin to remember your dreams.

You will see for yourself that your parents and your best friends are well.

Hi, my name is Mark and I'm from Onalaska, Texas. Way back in 1990 I was informed by a doctor that I was going to die, the doctor had done an HIV test & found that I was positive. Well of course since I'm writing this email I have NOT died! I have buried both of my parents & several friends since that time. Some of my friends have died from HIV complications. I wish now I would have known then what I know now but that is another story by itself. My question is this WHY AM I STILL ALIVE? I have prayed to GOD that if he needs someone to take to please take me instead of these young service men & women! Or anyone that dies extremely young I would be more than happy to go in their place. I feel these young people have not had a chance to live their life! I'm 51 years of age & feel I've lived a very full life! At present I think I know why I'm still here - my roommate has four dogs which I basically take care of. I'm currently on disability but still can function to take care of the dogs. I LOVE THEM with all my heart & soul so I remain strong for them. I just get extremely tired at times & somewhat disgusted at life as a whole. The world seems to me at times to have gone crazy to say the least. I thank you for taking the time to read this.

I agree with you, at times the world does seem out of wack, but it is what it is.

You know I can not answer your question, why are you still alive?

When you die and go into the light you will get your answers then. Everyone has all of their questions answered at this time.

It is discouraging to see so many military people die, but again we do not know the big picture. Just hang in there. Enjoy your life as much as possible and keep taking care of the dogs.

I do get hundreds of emails a week, but I love reading all of them and answering the ones that I can.

Dear Maryann,

On August 11, 2004 I got a phone call at 11:20 p.m. from my ex-husbands wife, letting me know that my ex (which was also my best friend) had been killed in a Trucking accident. Needless to say this came as a horrible shock to the whole family including our two sons and even though its been almost 3 years since his accident, his loss is still hard to accept. About, 2 weeks after his passing I begin to have strange things happening in my home...a few times a week, I would wake up during the night and see something that looked like round balls of white light moving and bouncing around in the air next to my side of the bed...needless to say this would scare the day lights out of me and I would let out a scream and they would go away.

Also, we have 2 computers in my home and while I would be on mine...my husbands computer would come on all by its self. We have been just sitting watching t.v. and all of a sudden our t.v. would shut down all by its self...this has happened several times. I also have gotten phone calls where nobody would be on the other end, but my caller ID would have the area code plus 000-0000 or say unknown when the calls came on my cell phone.

Even to this date, I can be sitting at my computer late at might, after my husband goes to bed, and I can hear sounds coming from my kitchen as if someone was in there dragging their feet..it freaks me out when I call out thinking its my husband, just to find that he is sleeping like a baby in the bed still.

Maryann, my question is...can you tell me if we have a ghost or spirit, and if so...do you know who it might be? Also, I have a 2 1/2 year old grand daughter that was born 5 months after her papa died...do you think she has ever seen his spirit because, she seems to know him very well when she sees a photo of him.

I believe that you have got several things going on here.

First the round white bouncing balls. Yes, they can be scary, but they are good ghosts here for a visit! They can be different colors not just white, they can be sparkly or look like glitter. They will never hurt you or cause any problems.

Your computer, television, telephone, or feet dragging across the floor. These are signs of an earthbound ghost, not one that has crossed over like the orbs.

Your granddaughter is two and a half years old, she can see all types of ghosts, and she sees grandpa. He has not missed her growing up at all, this is the reason that she recognizes him.

F.Y.I—Ghost and spirit are one in the same. The words are interchangeable.

If you or anyone has had a dream of your ex-husband then he is not earthbound and he has crossed over. If no one has had a dream of him, then this activity could be your ex-husband. There is no doubt that there is someone.

I first have to say that if you knew me you would understand my deep feelings on the subject of Ghost. I hear them call my name, touch my shoulder, and catch my dogs attention as if he was in a trance. But my question is about my two babies. Several years ago I lost my first child, then a year later I lost my second. I have orbs that follow me in picture after picture. In fact my brother's ex wife lost a child and in some of our Christmas picture he has one surrounding him. It just seems as if this is always stronger around Christmas, which would make sense because my I lost my first child just two weeks prior to Christmas and my second was conceived somewhere right after Christmas. I guess what I want to know is will I be able to see them one day, will they seem just like any other angel, do you think I will know it is them? My heart breaks to this day that I was never able to care for them, teach them, hug and kiss them. I still tell them that I love them and when ever I feel the presence of them I quietly sit there and look to the area where I feel them, or where the dog is watching. I have the most beautiful fiber-optic angel and it always seems to be around that angel during Christmas time. It's almost as if they are moving all around the area that it is set up. Am I crazy? Do you think that this could be my children, or just wishful thinking, and again if it is do you think I will recognize them one day? Thanks so much in advance for any thoughts you may have on this.

My heart goes out to you on the loss of your children.

Yes, you will be able to see, hug, kiss, and be with them when you cross over. You will be able to recognize each of them.

They do not miss a holiday (not just Christmas) birthdays , or any other family celebrations.

The orbs in pictures are most likely the babies. Orbs are ghosts that have crossed over. They are where they are supposed to be, and just here for a visit.

No you are not crazy, everything you are experiencing is very normal.

Annette- Ghosts At Work

Hi Mary Ann,

I'm a nurse and work night shift in a nursing home. One night, a couple of the nurse's aides saw someone walk in and out of one of the rooms. I along with another aide went to the room to see if someone was out of bed wandering from room to room. The lights were off in the room and I immediately felt uneasy. I felt funny, felt like the room was engulfed in static electricity. No one was in the room but the two men who occupy the room were in their beds asleep.
When the aide and I left the room, we were both feeling odd. We were also rubbing our forearms as it felt our hair on our arms were sticking straight up. We did not discuss what we were feeling until we exited the room.
Being in healthcare, I do deal with death from time to time. Other staff members have had different types of experiences such as seeing people we've taken care of that have died. Another person has seen a closet door open and close in a room.
What was it that I experienced? Was it a ghost?

Being a nurse in a nursing home you are in a line of work that is right at the top of the list for earthbound ghost in a workplace. Also the chance of bringing them home with you is very strong.

Most people in a nursing home die peacefully, but they may not have any living relatives. They make friends in the home so they stay. Also a dead husband or wife may stay waiting for their spouse to die so that they can cross over together.

Many people in you line of work Annette have great “ghost stories” that are not stories!

At any given time you could have a lot of extra people at work!

Dear Mary Ann:

When my wife's Aunt passed away from cancer in 1999, I was driving my car to work and felt a rather strong poke on back of my left shoulder. I immediately turned thinking one of my children had stowed away. I was angry because I did not have time to turn around and not be late for work. I actually moved off highway and parked on the shoulder to see who was in the car. I was sweating a cold sweat because when I first turned around in car, nobody was there! I checked the trunk thinking they hid in there and folded down the seat - but nobody was there. I even checked my coat to see if a pen or comb was stuck in the lining but nothing was there. When I got to work my wife called and told me the bad news. I asked her what time she passed and I determined it was at the moment I was poked in car - to the minute! The exit sign where this happened is named 'New Providence Road'. Providence is sometimes used to describe God as did George Washington our first president of the US.

My wife got cancer less than a year later. Was her Aunt trying to tell me something?

Also, my daughter has a friend who says she sees dead people. The very first day her friend visited our house she asked my daughter if the little blonde boy running down the hall was her brother. We have no little blonde son! We were told by neighbors that someone died in the house we live in but they think it was an older grandmother. Since we bought the house in 1999 we have experienced things missing and reappearing. Yes, many are of our own doing but, some are unexplainable. We have had many an argument blaming each other for moving things from where we left them. Today, my wife heard water running and it was the outside hose opened. Nobody was outside as we live in a wooded area and no persons were outside. I was the last one to use hose last evening cleaning my B-B-Q and I know I closed it because I was out well after I used it and it was off.

My wife's cancer seems to come and go with every new drug, which while this happens to many patients, her doctors have said it is strange. Could bad spirits be around prolonging my wife's cancer. Was I maybe activated to the spirit world by my wife's Aunt poking my shoulder. Should we move?

Hello Paul,

Yes Paul, your wife’s aunt was letting you know that she had died. This kind of thing is common; a lot of people have described similar experiences.

There is no way your wife’s aunt knew that your wife was going to get cancer, especially the same day that she died. Maybe after she crossed over after her funeral, she could have gotten that knowledge.

I am sorry that your wife has cancer, it is so very hard on her, but just as hard on you and your family.(I know I am cancer free six years now!)

I do not feel that there are any earthbound ghosts around your wife. Sometimes bad things happen to good people. Keep praying that the right drug and treatment will work soon.

As for the activity in the house, it sounds like someone is in and out, plus a little boy ghost would think that’s funny. I do not think that he is there twenty four-seven. More than likely he would be in the house around a full moon. Keep track of the activity in the house on a calendar and see if it coincides with the full moon.

When i was 7 years old & I lived in Tucson, Arizona I always saw a tall skinny man wearing a white tux with a white top hat,I always saw him passing from my parents room into my room.

When children are very young they can see all types of ghosts, earthbound spirits, angels, guardian angels, and relatives that have crossed over and are visiting.

As they get older most of them lose the ability. Clearly you have not. Most adults will catch a glimpse of a ghost out of the corner of their eye, like you have. Again these can be any of the above type ghosts.

The ghost that you can hear breathing around you is most likely an earthbound ghost. The other types are not normally heard.

You are afraid, trust your instincts, especially if you feel that you are being watched all the time and you are uncomfortable. You would not get this feeling with ghosts that have crossed over into the light.

You are fifteens years old Ash, talk to your parents. Tell them what is going on, or another adult that will listen to you.

What I am going to recommend you will have to have your parent’s permission. If they agree you can have an ordained priest or minister bless the house. You can also try smudging the house. You should be able to find smudge sticks at health food stores, some book stores, or any good metaphysical store. Follow the instructions that come with the smudge stick or ask when you buy it how to use it.

I bought an old house (built in1923) about five years ago and have had several strange things happen since moving in:

A few times, I've heard loud foot steps going up and down the stairs, and the back door open and shut very loudly.

Once, the door bell began playing a tune (suddenly and for no apparent reason), and the tune was not one that is actually programmed in the door bell. (The door bell has several different melodies programmed into it.)

Once, a dark cloud of smoke started coming out from where the wall meets the ceiling and it swooped down in the shape of a scythe and touched my right side and then quickly went back up into the ceiling.

And, oftentimes, when I'm laying on my bed, it feels like someone is bouncing on it. I've often wondered if this is the ghost of my little brother who died at the age of four (when I was six). He died when he was in a coma. I have a tombstone that I made as an art project some 20 years ago – that really formed itself. . . I didn't realize that's what it was going to be – and I felt very strongly at the time that it was for my little brother. Currently, I keep this tombstone in my bedroom right by the foot of the bed. . . and that's where the bed bounces. How can I find out if the bouncing is the ghost of my little brother jumping up and down on the bed? I would love to know for sure.

How sad that your brother died so young, but I do not think the activity that you have described in the house is him.

When a child dies that young a guardian angel, great grand parents, or grand parents will come and help them cross over.

I can not tell you if he has crossed over or not from a letter, but if you or someone has had a dream of him, he is where he is supposed to be. Earthbound ghosts cannot get into dreams.

As for your art project I think that was your mind helping to put your brother to rest, you were so young when he died. How clever that it was a tomb stone.

However, you do seem to have earthbound ghost activity in the house. Everything you have had happen including the bouncing on the bed makes me think this way.

Several suggestions to help quiet the house. One, it never hurts to have an ordained priest or minister bless the house. One word of caution. DO NOT get holy water and sprinkle it about yourself. This will not help the situation. Two, smudge the house. You should be able to find smudge sticks at health food stores, some book stores, or any good metaphysical shop. Smudging is how Native American cleanse their living areas. Follow the instructions in the smudge stick or ask where you buy it how to use it.

My name is Barb and I am 55 years old. My dad passed away almost seven years ago of cancer. I was active in taking him to the cancer clinic when he was receiving chemo and radiation.

He had a wonderful sense of humor and I would tease him about what signs he could send me when he crossed over. I asked if he could help me pick the winning lotto numbers and I would share the wealth amongst my siblings. He laughed and said "Oh no, what I will do is drive you crazy. I know you hate getting up early and you NEVER answer your phone, so I will ring your phone very early every day until you are really annoyed."

Well about three to four months after his passing, around 7:55 a.m., the phone would ring. Generally after four rings the answering machine picks up. But instead the phone would ring about eight times. I would go out to investigate why the answering machine wasn't picking it up and there were no problems that I could see. I checked my call display. Usually even if it is a wrong number there will be some kind of display. But the phone display was blank.

This went on for another five days, until I got mad and said out loud, "This is really starting to annoy me." Then it hit me, "Oh my god, this is what Dad said he would do to give me a sign." I told this story to some of my friends and they think I am crazy. But it has not happened since and never happened before.

Mary Ann, is it possible that my dad was sending me a message?

What a great experience. Your father gave you a sign that let you know it really was him. People that die from cancer or other lingering diseases, usually cross-over right after the funeral. They know that they are dying and they are usually tired and want to see their loved ones that died before them. Let your friends think that you are crazy. You and I know better, it was your dad.

My husband and I are looking to buy an older home to fix up. The problem is, in several pictures of these older homes I have spotted orbs. Any house that has orbs is a house that is not haunted. Pictures of orbs are good ghosts, not the earthbound ghosts that "haunt." So buy away. You will not have a problem.

I believe in spirits and the afterlife. I always have. I have always been able to sense things and there are times when the dreams I think I am having have such a profound effect on me that I believe they are not dreams but are really happening to me ( i.e. my grandmother standing by my bed or in my children's room).

But now my four-year-old son, who has always asked me questions regarding God, heaven and ghosts, talks to my grandmother, who he has never met. She passed nine years before he was born. But after taking him to the cemetery for All Saints Day last year-he put his hand on her tomb and told her it was nice to finally meet her-he speaks of "Margaret" constantly and now his two-year-old brother says that she lives in their room.

I believe she could be here with us. But are they really in touch with their great grandmother?

Some people-and you seem to be one of them-have very vivid dreams. It almost seems the dream runs right into awake time. A lot of times this can run from one generation to another.

At your children's ages they would be able to see and talk to ghosts anyway, but even more so, because of what you do. They would be very aware of who and where the spirit would be.

So I am sure it is great grandmother Margaret they are seeing. How wonderful for your children. And I am sure it is a great pleasure for your grandmother.

My husband and I experience a lot of odd things in our home. My husband says these things only started when I moved in. I have always felt a presence of spirits, but since my favorite uncle passed, I have had more and more experiences. We have things actually disappear completely and then suddenly reappear. These are very strong experiences.

We will be watching TV, like a cooking show, and the TV will suddenly, on its own, change to a sporting event. The first time it was changed to the NBA basketball playoffs. I told my husband that my uncle loved the playoffs and died during the playoffs. It also has changed to the World Series and so on.

Does this sound to you as though we may have a spirit with us? Also, our dogs seem to follow someone around and watch someone in the hallway and upstairs. I believe they see our spirit.

What do you think about all this?

Yes, I believe that you do have an earthbound ghost in your house. I have no way of knowing if it is your uncle, but it is there. All the things that are happening, plus the dogs watching someone, indicate this. Ghosts can follow people from house to house, so maybe someone moved with you on your last move.

It sounds like it is probably a man, because of the TV sports. Your hunches are right, you are not alone.

I was living in a house in Waco, TX, that was, in my opinion, very haunted. When my wife and I moved into the house, little things started happening. While watching TV in our living room we would hear three knocks on the wall behind us. I would knock back three times and it would repeat a few seconds later.

Things started to get more intense after we started playing the Ouija board. While playing it in the kitchen with nothing but one candle by us we would see a shape flying along the wall over the archway of the kitchen door and back down and along the wall. At night when we went to bed I would see white balls of light flying all around the room. There was also one very ominous, very dark thing that would float over me while I was in bed. At first my wife was not able to see it until I pointed it out to her; then it scared the heck out of her when she was finally able to see it.

The ghost in the movie "The Grudge" that was floating over the old woman's bed looks just like the ghost that floated over me while I was in bed only not as visible. There was also a ghost that would hang around the foot of the bed on my wife's side. It seemed like it would move around out of the closet and just stand by the bed. There was also a lot of soft scratching in the upper corner over the bed and once I was even thumped on the forehead. I guess they were trying to wake me up.

I have moved from the house in Waco and I don't believe any ghost tagged along. However, I do have ghost stories about my new home too. I have rarely been scared by these ghosts and actually found them interesting. What are your thoughts on these ghost?

Ouija boards are not very high on my lists. A lot of houses I clear have had problems because of Ouija boards. Everything that you described happening in Waco I am sure was really going on. The more interaction you have with an earthbound ghost, the more energy they get. Talking to them, knocking on the walls, your wife being scared, all this did was give the ghosts more energy.

You are fortunate that they did not move with you. They very well could have. Who would have been able to stop them? I suggest you put your energy into trying to communicate with ghosts that have crossed over, instead of earthbound ghosts.

A couple of questions. I believe there is a ghost in my house. I live on the California coast, in a very old house. The spirit seems to be into messing or playing tricks on me. Not scary, kinda funny. I believe it's a male or maybe a little boy. My husband doesn't believe me, but it scared him once in the garage when he was by himself. He also doesn't like it when I talk about the ghost.

It seems to grab at my rear end when I do the dishes. As well as pull my hair. It's done this when I'm by myself, and with others around. I believe my four year old daughter has seen it too. She even went as far as to tell me his name is Ashton. She has told me that he rides in our car next to her, and I've seen her playing ring around the roses with "him."

I've had some belief in the supernatural or ghosts, but now I strongly believe in it. I want to know if I'm right, or is my mind playing tricks on me? Also, I'd like to connect with a loved one who has passed. Is there a way to say hi and I love you?

Just because you live in an old house does not mean there are ghosts. They can be in new houses also. It definitely sounds like you have at least two earthbound ghosts in the house. I believe your daughter when she says that she sees "Ashton" and plays with him. That is what children do whether they are alive or dead. They like to play with other children.

I hope it is Ashton grabbing your butt, and not an adult male ghost. Neither one is good. How can your husband not believe you when he was scared by one of them? You need to try and use a smudge stick and/or have your house blessed.

Try to connect with a dead loved one in a dream. That is the easiest way.

I'm almost positive there is a ghost in my house. I have taken pictures both in and outside and they contain orbs...usually around my daughter. My question is, if it is an earthbound ghost, is it wrong to talk to them? I'm not sure if they're even there, earthbound or not? If they are earthbound, but are nice, can I talk to them? I think what you are able to do is absolutely wonderful.



Pictures of orbs are good ghosts, guardian angels, angels, spirit guides, and relatives and friends that have died and crossed over. If you see an orb you can talk to it. There is no harm in that.

But you do not want to talk to earthbound ghosts-all you are doing is feeding them your energy. It is best to ignore them.

Your mom is right. It is natural to worry about her. I think the green light is just her way of letting you know that she is fine, and you will see her at the appropriate time.

A strange man-I believe he was a bum-who was on a bike came up to us asking for money to help him buy something to eat. Well we had no money to give but then he started to chat with us about how he was a bum for some time and on and on. But then he tells me I have the Third Eye. I was a little confused on that and thought he was crazy. Soon after, maybe like a month or so, I started to see shadows on the walls and started to wonder. Is there a thing called the Third Eye? And if so, is there a way to control it to maybe help the other side?

I came across your website while I was looking for "how do spirits cross over?" I am a developing medium and I am learning every day. I feel many spirits around me all the time, in the form of cold breezes. I am still learning how to communicate with them. But mostly, I guess I'm not sure how to recognize if they are lost and not crossed over, or crossed over and just visiting. I see them in my third eye also. I do not know how to cross them over either. I have tried visualizing the white light for them and urging them through, but it hasn't worked, unless my technique is wrong?

I am able to draw them also (very badly) and do automatic writing. Just recently over the last few months, I have had some spirits infiltrate my body and take my energy. I have felt extremely fatigued and drowsy because of it. I have known it was them and tried to get rid of it. They recently "came out," in a group meditation circle. I felt quite carsick right after I felt the fatigue removed and much clearer in my vision. I totally understand that perhaps I may not have been protecting myself properly, and that I am to blame.

I do watch Ghost Whisperer and have learned a great deal. But I am still unsure of what I'm feeling around me. There are a few here next to me as I'm writing this, just wanting some attention. I tend to ignore them because sometimes I get my wires crossed and bad information. I am just looking for some sort of assistance in how to deal with these beings and how to recognize what's what. All three of you are asking the same question. The third eye area is a region of the head between the eyebrows, above the root of the nose. This is perceived to be where the energy enters the mind and gives psychic abilities to anyone that has developed this area.

Gina, you need to develop your third eye to a higher level to be able to do all that you want. Your spirit guides will help you at the right speed of learning for you. Doing automatic writing is asking for trouble. Without proper prayer and protection, be very careful. You have seen how dangerous it can be.

Everyone has a guardian angel, spirit guides, and loved ones that have died and crossed over that come and visit us. You will be able to get this information yourself through dreams. When your dead loved ones come to you in a dream, you can talk to them.

More specifically, I think you are referring to a person who can do Psychometry. This is a psychic that has the ability to hold a picture or an object and get information. People with this ability are really valuable to law enforcement, helping them to solve crimes.

If you dream of either one of your grandfathers then they have crossed over and are where they are supposed to be. When people die and cross over they can have angel-like qualities, but they do not become angels.

About two weeks ago my grandfather died and my family is feeling really bad. He was sick but we kept telling him what the doctors told us, that he would be fine. Well he was not and he passed. Our family fears he is mad at us and that maybe he was not ready to die and that maybe he was scared.

It was our family's decision to help him pass. The doctors said he was gone and recommended taking him off life support. My mother fears he would also be disappointed in us for doing that, even though we were respecting his wishes to never be kept alive on life support.

I am very sorry to hear about your grandfather. Of all the ghosts that I talk to at funerals (when I am invited), not one was angry for being taken off life support. Your family did the right thing. They followed your grandfather's wishes and also the advice of his doctors.

Very few people want to die, but I have never found a spirit that wants to stay on life support. They all saw people who had died before them, and they were really more than okay with having to go.

As soon as you or someone in your family dreams of him, you will know that he is not angry.

Dear Mary Ann, Recently, I lost my daughter Shilynne, due to an auto accident (3/23/07). I was reading your answers to people's questions. Am I correct in my understanding that if no one dreams of Shilynne then she is earthbound?

I had a dream of her talking to me but I couldn't see her. Her junior high school ring and birthstone ring were missing. This was bugging me. I wanted her buried with her school ring because she loved that ring. I wanted to keep her birthstone ring for myself. Well, in the dream she told me where her rings were. The next day I found her rings. Where I found them I had been through that stuff before.

Part of me wants her to be earthbound. Then I won't feel so lonesome. But the other part of me wants her to get comfort by finding the light. This probably sounds crazy but she was only 18 years old, almost a graduate from high school. I am sorry for bothering you but I just wanted ask someone who would know.

I am sorry to hear about Shilynne. Especially at such an early age. She has only been gone about six weeks. The first dream is usually around six months, but it can take longer. You have had at least one dream with her talking to you. She must have been very close to you for you to dream of her that soon. That is very early to dream of someone that has died.

She has crossed over, or you would not have had the dream. You are right, it is better for her to be in the light. As you have found out, she is with you. That is how you got the information about the rings. My guess is she put the rings where you could find them, because you were so upset about them.

You will not have any trouble communicating with her. The loss will always be there, but at least you can see and talk to her in your dreams. That should bring you some measure of comfort.

This might be your mother's way of saying "Hi," and letting you know that she is around. If you, or any of your family members, or anybody else that knew your mom, has had a dream of her, then she has crossed over. You could ask her in a dream why she is doing this with the TV.

I have to admit, ghosts that have crossed over usually do not turn television sets on or off. I have found that this is the work of an earthbound ghost playing pranks.

I have a few questions about something new that is occurring in my house. My daughter, age seven, recently has seen dancing lights in our backyard, angels or fairies inside our house, and most recently black smoke with a nice face and smoke with a mean staring face.

She is not concerned with the angels, but the black smoke with the mean face is starting to scare her, so much so that she can't be alone without seeing it stare at her or bug her to the point that she breaks down. She sees it at school and saw it at my sister's house and most recently saw it in our house. It is starting to scare us as well even though we see nothing. It must be intimidating her so much that it makes her emotions run from sadness and crying to being upset and not knowing why she feels this way.

We have taken photos and out of at least 100, we got 20 with some sort of orb-type light. Is she attracting more because they know she can see them? We desperately need some sort of advice please. Thank you.

Please pay attention to your daughter. Children are so pure and innocent; they have the ability to see all kinds of ghosts. The dancing lights, or glittering sparkles and faces that are not threatening can be angels, spirit guides, or ghosts that have crossed over. Any pictures that you take that have orbs (perfectly round objects) are good ghosts and can be any of the above.

From your description, 99 percent of what she is seeing is good, and again, normal for a child. Unfortunately, now she is also seeing one that is an earthbound ghost that likes scaring her. He is getting the energy he needs from her and you because you are stressed and worried about her.

Here are a few suggestions. Smudge your house with sage or sweet grass. Try to have the house blessed by an ordained priest or minister. Do not sprinkle holy water around yourself. That will only make your situation worse. And do not talk or scream at him. That will only give him more energy.

He seems to like to follow your daughter. Put several spoons of sea salt in a spray bottle and mix with water, and mist her lightly. Earthbound ghosts will usually stay away from sea salt. This will work about 60 percent of the time.

She may feel like she has more control over him if you let her spray him with the sea salt mixture when she sees him.

I am so sorry to hear about your stepson's death. It is hard when a young person dies. I talk to a lot of dead people and no matter how anyone died they all have said the same thing: it really does not hurt to die.

If someone has a bad sickness, they sometimes suffer, but not when they actually die. Accidents like your stepson's usually happen so fast that they feel only surprise when they realize that they are dead. When you have a dream about him you can ask him yourself, and you will then be able to say goodbye.

I cannot tell you who took the picture down. It was the only incident that you talked about. If it was an earthbound ghost in your house, there would be more going on. As far as the coins and your musical coke magnet, that is most likely your sister Mary saying "Hi" when she comes for a visit. Music boxes going off and little knick-knacks being moved or turned, is another way that they are letting you know that they are fine.

My mother-in-law recently passed. I was the only one with her at her passing. A few weeks later my father-in-law wanted her clothes gone. He was having a problem dealing with her death as they had been married 54 years.

I was alone in the house and talking to my mother-in-law, telling her what I was doing when the most potent smell of perfume came into the room. There was no perfume there at the time and all the clothes were fresh out of the closet and clean. She had been unable to wear them for some time. My husband, their only son, came into the room a little later and the same thing occurred.

I told them it was Billie and she was telling us she was alright with me doing this for her, and that she was alright and in the right place since her passing. My mother-in-law was a Christian and believed in Jesus and heaven. I even talked to her about the job she would hold in heaven when she passed.

Is it wrong to feel insight into something like what happened? I truly believe she was there with me while I was cleaning out her closets. Is that my way of comforting myself and others?

I was just wondering if all the people that die have unfinished business. My brother-in-law was shot and killed. We still don't know who the killer is. Is my brother-in-law still here or did he cross over? Thank you.

No, everybody that dies does not have unfinished business. Unfortunately people that suffer violent deaths almost always have unfinished business.

If you or anyone has had a dream of your brother-in-law, then he has crossed over. If no one has had a dream of him then he is earthbound.

When you or someone finally dreams of him, ask him in the dream what happened. If he knows he will tell you or someone else.

I think it is a wonderful gift that you have, your daily life must be awesome, and thanks for sharing your experiences with everyone through the show. My best friend was like a brother to me. We would see each other everyday. We worked together and played together…he died in a terrible accident four years ago.

I was supposed to go to the same party he went to the night he died but I got sick and couldn't, but I've lived with the fact that if I had been there that night he wouldn't have gotten into a truck with someone else and maybe he would still be here.

I dream about him often and carry his picture with me everywhere because I miss him so much. I sometimes feel as though someone is with me and at times it feels as though someone is playing with my hair. Is there anyway I can find out if it's him or not? Is there anyway I can talk to him?

I have good news for you. Your friend was ok with his death, because he has crossed over. You would not be able to dream of him if he had not crossed over. Yes, you can talk to him all you want in your dreams. Nobody realizes they can do that.

There is no way you should do the "What if's." This was his time, place and how it was supposed to happen. Your being at that party would not have made a difference.

If your friend had issues with his death, he would not have crossed over. When he visits you, he could be playing with your hair.

Dear Mary Ann,

When my oldest boy was only about 18 months old, he woke up one night and said that the ghost scared him. Everyday after that he played with "George" and talked to "George." He described George as long and white and purple. His description never changed no matter what day we asked him. After a few months of this one day he threw himself on the floor screaming and crying.

When I asked him what was wrong he said George would not let him go with him. My initial reaction was "OMG, I don't want you to play with George anymore." A couple of days later he and grandpa were walking to the mailbox and grandpa asked him if he had seen George and he said no, that George went away and wasn't coming back.

I felt bad after this happened because George had never hurt my son and after I thought about what had happened I thought George was protecting my son by not letting him come with him. I do not know who this George was but I do believe that my son saw someone. A few years passed and when he was about five years old he spent the night at grandma and grandpa's one night and came out of the bedroom to tell grandma that George had come by to say "Hi."

Would George be someone we knew in life or could a spirit have attached himself to my son for another reason?

Hello Traicy,
What you are describing is so normal for a child to see and talk about. Children are so innocent and open. They do not even realize who they are talking to. They can see and converse with guardian angels, spirit guides, ghosts that are earthbound and ones that have crossed over, or even a relative coming for a visit.

Children always give their friends names, maybe they make them up, or maybe a ghost tells them a name. The good thing about the "imaginary friends" is that they usually do not stay around very long. So no, your son does not have an earthbound ghost attached to him.
